Marc C. Bryson

Marc Bryson is a Charleston, West Virginia, attorney and a graduate of The College of Wooster and the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, where he earned a Certificate of Advanced Study in Environmental Law. Mr. Bryson focuses on environmental law and litigation, where he has represented industrial, chemical, municipal, coal, and oil and gas clients throughout West Virginia and the surrounding region. He has significant experience advising companies on compliance, permitting, and regulatory requirements involving water and wastewater, stormwater, hazardous waste, air emissions, and other environmental matters.
Mr. Bryson regularly counsels clients on matters involving NPDES permits and compliance with the Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, RCRA, CERCLA, the Safe Drinking Water Act, and other federal and state environmental regulations. He has defended clients in enforcement actions brought by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and state agencies, including the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection (WVDEP) and the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PADEP).
In addition to his regulatory and compliance work, Mr. Bryson has appeared before a wide range of administrative boards, state courts, and federal courts in environmental proceedings. He has experience defending RCRA citizen suits, Clean Water Act citizen suits, third-party permit challenges, and NPDES permit appeals. He has also counseled water and wastewater utilities, steel and manufacturing facilities, and natural gas and coal operators on complex environmental and regulatory issues.
Mr. Bryson has been designated as a West Virginia Rising Star by the Super Lawyers publication from 2013 through 2022. He has also been recognized by U.S. News – Best Lawyers as a top environmental attorney in Charleston, West Virginia. Mr. Bryson has contributed articles on environmental law and regulation to The National Law Review and has been involved with the Water Environment Federation’s House of Delegates Operator Initiative Workgroup.
