Michael W. Taylor

Michael W. Taylor is a native of Clarksburg, West Virginia.  He is a graduate of West Virginia University and the West Virginia University College of Law.  Michael’s practice focuses on litigation where he represents individuals and entities throughout West Virginia.  He has significant experience in constitutional law, civil rights, employment, government liability and appellate advocacy.  

Michael has litigated several high-profile matters, including the constitutionality of same-sex marriage, the constitutionality of various state statues, and represented an entity as part of state and federal opioid litigation.  Michael has tried several bench and jury trials in both state and federal court, as well as before various administrative tribunals.  In addition, he has argued many matters before the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia, as well as the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.  Michael also provides general counseling services to various clients.

Michael was designated in 2022 as a member of the Generation Next: Top Forty under Forty by the West Virginia State Journal.  He also serves as a member of the Board of Governors for the Defense Trial Counsel of West Virginia.  In law school, Michael received the Order of the Coif and was a member of the West Virginia Law Review.
